We were fighting back tears when Lea Michelle opened up about Cory Monteith's passing on The Ellen Show yesterday, and we have the details on her touching interview.
In a sit down with Ellen, actress and singer Lea Michele was so strong and so courageous when she was reflecting on the loss of her co-star and the love of her life Cory Monteith, who passed away this year from a drug and alcohol overdose.
Lea gave some insight into how important her Glee family was during this very difficult time. She said that Glee creator Ryan Murphy came to visit her shortly after the news broke, and asked her to advise him what she wanted to do with their current shooting schedule for Glee. Lea told him that she had no choice but to go back to work with her Glee family. She said "what people also don't understand is that going to work is no harder than being at home, and being in the house, and opening up a closet and seeing a pair of shows. Grief goes with you everyday, whatever you're doing. When there's great moments, when there's hard moments. So, I'd rather for me be at work with the people that I love that are going through the same thing, and it obviously has its own triggers but at the end of the day I feel so safe there."
Lea also expressed so much gratitude towards her Glee co-star Kate Hudson, who allowed Lea and her family to take refuge in her house during those first couple of days after the news first broke. She said that mother has been extremely supportive during the aftermath of this tragedy and gave her some uplifting advice. Take a look
Wow, what amazing strength. Lea also opened up about one of her fondest memories of Cory who came home after his last appearance on Ellen and told her that he talked about her on the show. here's that moment.
Before leaving the show, we got to hear Lea sing her heart out on her brand new single Cannonball from her upcoming solo album, Louder which will be available for purchase in March. She said that Louder is an extremely personal album for her, and that Cory got to hear all but two of the tracks before he passed, and that one song on the album called If You Say So, was written about him.
